Our office recently added one of the latest breakthroughs in dental technology, the OpusDuo dental laser system. The OpusDuo brings some exciting new changes:
- Cavities can often be prepared and filled without the drill!
- The laser dramatically reduces the need for anesthetic injections!
- In many instances, patients will spend less time in the chair!
- The laser does not produce high-pitched noise or vibrations!
- Soft tissue (gums, etc.) can often be treated without using a scalpel!
- The laser means less need for post-operative pain medication and less risk of infection!
- For both hard tissue (tooth) and soft tissue (cheek and gum) procedures, the laser will often allow us to be even more precise!
Like all lasers, the OpusDuo uses a highly concentrated beam of light to safely and precisely remove enamel and decay. There is not harmful radiation involved and even pregnant patients can be treated safely.
The OpusDuo can not replace the drill for every single procedure, but whenever it is used, it will provide a whole new level of comfort and efficiency. With the laser, most patients (but not all) will not require an anesthetic injection. Because of this, in some situations will suddenly be possible to for us to work in up to four different parts of your mouth during a single appointment. That means in extreme cases, the dental work that once would have taken three or four appointments can now be safely and comfortably completed in a single visit!
